Phew!! What a mad and fun month it has been for weddings and I have been baking and flying around East and West Sussex; what a globetrotting bunny I am!

The first wedding of the month set at the stunning Ravenswood in Sharpthorne, West Sussex was for a very large topsy turvy cake with a tea cup on the top surrounded by beautiful cupcakes and mini cakes all depicting a spring show of hand crafted sugar flowers and of course the obligatory 850 daisies!  I fondly call this my mad hatter cake and it really does fit well within The Ravenswood setting and the ‘innards’ were  sublime madeira cake with a fluffy organic vanilla buttercream and a strawberry conserve; it was iced with my very special fondant icing that really has the most wonderful taste.  The mini cakes were a contrast of madeira and fruit, which gave the guests something really different to tuck into.  The final embellishments in the form of the cupcakes was a dainty vanilla and zesty lemon sponge; fondant topped with a generous layer of buttercream that makes them extra special and yummy.

The bride and groom Claire and Paul had an absolutely fantastic day with lots of laughs and fun and as the bride was a school friend of mine it was of course an extra special wedding cake!  I must say that Claire’s choice of arrival car was particularly fantastic and for all you men out there it was a Ferrari, oh yes a Ferrari; now that is one classy lady 🙂

Claire chose to be married in their new outside venue and I was so pleased that the weather held for her, it really was a glorious day and I was so pleased that the sun shone down on them both.  I was informed that the cake went down a storm and there were numerous visits to the cake table to just taste a little bit more.  Those are words to a cake designer’s ears as cakes should really taste as good as they look.

So that’s it for this week all but keep checking back as I have some other yummy delights to share with you!  If I say yummy delights young Nell becomes very attentive all of a sudden…I wonder why 😉

Have a great weekend,

Mands
