The Hotel Du Vin in Brighton East Sussex was the gorgeous wedding reception venue for the Vintage Style 3 tier Wedding Cake for our beautiful bride Kim.

The bride and groom were getting married in their local Church in the pretty village of Falmer and then moving  on to The Hotel du Vin for an evening of celebration.

The sun shone brightly on Hove seafront and the whole of East and West Sussex was out enjoying the sunshine!

To compliment the bride’s vintage style wedding the cake consisted of 3 huge tiers with a cascade of handmade vintage style sugar roses, pearls and both blue satin and lace ribbons to match the bridemaid’s colour schemes.

The softly sparkling pearls and the cream roses fading from a dark centre bud to the paler outer leaves and dropping gently down the tiers made this a truly stunning vintage style cake.

The soft vanilla fondant was in a pale ivory colour to match the bride’s dress and was scattered with falling rose petals.

The bottom tier was a soft buttery madeira sponge filled with a fluffy vanilla buttercream and a strawberry conserve.

Tier number two was a decadent rich chocolate mud cake filled (rather generously!) with a rich and delicious chocolate buttercream beneath the fondant which is every bit as delicious as it sounds!

The top tier was a moist and lightly spiced fruit cake filled with fruits and my secret ingredient! The whole cake weighed a ton!

The cake design was inspired by Kim’s love of vintage and the bride was thrilled with the finished result!

It was an absolutely beautifully sunny day and very hot which was fantastic after the rainy weather we had been having during the week!

I thoroughly enjoyed making all the roses for this cake and guess what…. no daisies this week!

Have a great week everyone and it is all about handbags and birthdays next…

love Mands xx
